To get to, we need to come to ever deeper understanding God's essence, spirit, character, and nature.
Isaiah provides some great starting points, articulating from the Voice of God the Essence of God.
"I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god."
"I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host."
"For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it empty, he formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the LORD, and there is no other."
"Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance."
"To whom will you liken me and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be alike?"
"I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’... I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it."
"I am he; I am the first, and I am the last. My hand laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens..."
"For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy..."
"In that day the LORD of hosts will be a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people, and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate."
"The Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him."
"He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms."
God is a Good shepherd.
"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel? Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scale"
God measures the waters.
God marks off the heavens.
God weighs the mountains and hills.
God is immeasurable.
God is the supreme counselor. God is the supreme judge. God is the supreme knower. God is the supreme understander.
God is immeasurably great, in comparison to Whom the nations are like dust.
"To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?"
God is unique and incomparable.
"To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these?"
*"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable."
"Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior."
"They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
"He gives up nations before him, so that he tramples kings underfoot; he makes them like dust with his sword, like driven stubble with his bow."
God is Sovereign above all kings.
"I am God... I work, and who can turn it back?"
God is the supreme worker and doer.
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
"I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground."
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."
The LORD was pleased, for his righteousness' sake, to magnify his law and make it glorious.
