The Essence Of God

To get to Know God, we need to come to ever deeper understanding God's essence, spirit, character, and nature.

Isaiah provides some great starting points, articulating from the Voice of God the Essence of God.

"I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god."

God is the Creator. God is the First. God is the Last. God is the Only God.

"I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host."

God created the Earth. God created humanity. God created the heavens. God commands the heavenly host.

"For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it empty, he formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the LORD, and there is no other."

God created the heavens. God is God. God formed the Earth and made it. God is the only God, there is no other.

"Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance."

"I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’... I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it."

"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Who has measured the Spirit of the LORD, or what man shows him his counsel? Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scale"

"To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these?"

God is unique and incomparable.

*"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable."

God is eternal and everlasting. God is the Creator of All.
God is supreme strength.

"He gives up nations before him, so that he tramples kings underfoot; he makes them like dust with his sword, like driven stubble with his bow."

God is Sovereign above all kings.
