The seventh irreducible element of The Core Pattern.
Every living thing sustains itself and brings forth new life — not in isolation, but within the living Body of which it is a part.
A cell that cannot sustain itself dies. A cell that cannot replicate ends its lineage. But no cell sustains or replicates alone — it does so within the context of a Body, an ecosystem, a cosmos of mutual interexistence. The nutrients it draws come from the Whole. The life it brings forth serves the Whole.
The fruit of the tree contains new seeds — but the tree draws water from the earth, light from the sun, and life from the mycelial networks woven through the soil by countless other beings. Self-sustenance is not self-sufficiency. It is the capacity to receive from and give back to the Whole — to breathe in and breathe out — as a healthy, sovereign expression of the interexistent All.
Self-sustenance and self-replication are not independence. They are the marks of a mature, contributing member of ONE Living Body.
The mechanism of sustenance and spread is not separate from the practice — it IS the practice. The final step of maturity is planting new seeds. Recovery requires transmission. Discipleship requires multiplication. The act of passing the pattern forward is integral to the pattern itself.
AA Step 12: "Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others." You cannot complete your own healing without helping others begin theirs. And each group sustains itself through voluntary contributions of its own members — financially autonomous, yet part of ONE worldwide fellowship.
The early church: "Go and make disciples." The kerygma was short enough to transmit orally in minutes, deep enough to sustain a lifetime. Each house church was a self-sustaining expression of the Whole — feeding its members, pooling its resources, sharing all things in common — while multiplying through the simple act of living the Way in the sight of others. The message was inseparable from its transmission.
Benedictine monasteries: Each monastery sustained itself through its own labor, prayer, and the Rule — a complete, self-governing, self-feeding organism. And mature monks were sent from established monasteries to found new ones. The fruit of maturity was replication. From one monastery to 37,000 — each self-sustaining, each interexistent with the Order as a whole.
Mondragon: Each cooperative sustains itself economically through its own productive activity — and from that surplus, new cooperatives are born. The Saiolan incubator. The Gaztenpresa Foundation. Laboral Kutxa's 20-person company creation service. 16 new companies per year. New cooperatives are created by formed people who carry the DNA and plant it in new soil — while remaining federated within the interexistent Whole.
Open source: Each contributor sustains their own practice and contribution. Every improvement to the codebase is automatically available to all. Contribution IS distribution. The ecosystem sustains itself through the voluntary interexistence of sovereign agents.
Cooperative Principle 5: Education and training are constitutive, not optional. Every cooperative is a training ground for the next generation of cooperators — sustaining the culture while replicating the pattern.

If each Circle of approximately 8 people matures and then each member helps form a new Circle:
33 to 50 cycles. 3.5 to 7 years.
This is how the early church grew from 120 to 6 million. This is how AA grew from 2 to 2 million. This is how cooperatives grew from 28 weavers to 1 billion members. Each node self-sustaining. Each node self-replicating. All interexisting as ONE.
Self-sustenance and self-replication are encoded in the structure of The Great Game of LIONSBERG itself:
Sustain the Circle. Each Circle sustains itself through the commitment and contribution of its members — time, energy, resources, and care flowing among those who have covenanted to walk together. No Circle depends on a center for its life. Each is a complete, sovereign cell of the Body — drawing from and giving back to the Commons within which all Circles interexist.
Pass The Flame. This is not an optional final step. It is the culmination of the process — the proof of maturity. A Circle that does not plant new Circles is a Circle that has not yet matured. A tree that does not bear fruit has not yet fulfilled its nature.
The First Three Percent — approximately 250 million awakened individuals globally — represents the critical mass. That is approximately 300 per community of 10,000 — The 300 — the empowered local leaders and teams who form the planetary grid of the New Civilization.
The spread is organic, decentralized, and self-sustaining — not controlled or managed from any center. It spreads by invitation and resonance, never by coercion. And it sustains itself through the interexistence of sovereign beings and groups who know they can only do this Together.
Without self-sustenance, every node depends on a center — and when the center fails, the network collapses. Without self-replication, the movement stalls and dies — growth becomes dependent on a central marketing function or a charismatic leader's reach. Without the recognition of interexistence, self-sustenance becomes isolation and self-replication becomes fragmentation.
The Pattern holds all three: sovereign nodes that sustain themselves, replicate naturally, and remain woven into the living Body of the Whole. This is how living things grow — from the inside out, from seed to fruit to seed, within the vast ecosystem of All that nourishes and is nourished by every part.
The question is not whether the math works. The question is whether you will begin.
