3.3 Finding Out What is Happening

A living Body knows what its hands and feet are doing.
A living civilization has a nervous system —
pathways through which information, wisdom, and awareness flow
so that every part can sense the Whole and respond in harmony.

The New Civilization is no different. If We cannot find each other, We cannot help each other. And if We cannot help each other, We cannot rise together.

Talk to People

The best way to find out what is happening is the oldest way: talk to other humans.

Not just scan a list. Not just read a dispatch. Enter into dialogue.

When you ask around — sharing who you are, what you are working on, what you need, what you can offer — something far richer emerges than any directory could provide. Relationships form. Unexpected connections surface. Your wisdom folds into the collective conversation, and the community's wisdom folds back into yours.

This is how a community actually becomes a community — not through information systems, but through living relationship.

The Living Network

As Circles and communities form across the movement, a natural network emerges:

  • Circles know what their members are working on
  • Guilds connect Circles with shared expertise or calling
  • Local Commons gather the Circles of a community into shared awareness
  • Bioregional and planetary communication flows upward and outward as the network grows

This is not a top-down reporting structure. It is a living nervous system — information flowing in every direction, carried by people who care about the Whole.

Practical Steps

To stay informed and connected:

  • Ask your Circle — What are the other Circles near us working on? What needs have surfaced? What opportunities are emerging?
  • Attend community gatherings — regular assemblies where Circles share progress, raise concerns, and coordinate
  • Contribute to and consult the local map — a living directory of active Circles, active Quests, and available resources in your area
  • Reach out across the network — if you need something or have something to offer, let it be known; the network exists to connect
  • Share your story — who you are, your purpose, your capabilities, your concerns; the community cannot match you to opportunities it does not know you are seeking

Bottom-Up and Top-Down

Communication in the New Civilization is not one-directional.

It flows bottom-up — from individuals to Circles, from Circles to communities, from communities to the planetary Whole. Every voice matters. Every local insight enriches the collective picture.

And it flows top-down — as broader patterns, milestones, strategic priorities, and shared resources are made available to every Circle and community in the network.

The result is situational awareness at every scale — each part knowing enough about the Whole to act wisely, and the Whole knowing enough about each part to serve effectively.

The 10 Year Grand Strategy cannot succeed unless We truly become a community. And becoming a community requires acting as if that is who We already are.

So reach out. Ask. Share. Listen. Connect.

The nervous system of the New Civilization is made of conversations.
